Mississippi College Track Opens Bulldog Relays with Record Throws

STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi College men’s and women’s track and field teams opened competition at the Mississippi State Bulldog Relays Thursday with impressive hammer throw performances, including a school record and personal bests, according to the school’s athletics department.

On the men’s side, James David Miller set a school record with a throw of 56.65 meters (185 feet, 10 inches). Teammate Jacob Keesee also recorded a personal best of 54.23 meters (177 feet, 11 inches), ranking second all-time in program history.

In the women’s hammer throw, Rebekah Zweerink achieved a personal best of 44.15 meters (144 feet, 10 inches). The team continues competition Friday as the rest of the squad joins in the second and third days of the relay event, which is held in Starkville.
