Mississippi College rallied in the opener and dominated the second game to sweep Arkansas-Monticello in a doubleheader Tuesday at the MC Softball Complex. The Choctaws improved to 17-10-1 with the wins, which added to their earlier season sweep of the Cotton Blossoms in Monticello.

Arkansas-Monticello took an early lead, scoring twice in the first inning and once in the second to go up 3-1. Mississippi College responded in the third, with Madelyn England delivering a two-run single that scored Shelby Samples and Morgan Lavergne to tie the game at 3-3. The Choctaws took control in the fourth inning, with Blakely Gill hitting an RBI double and Lavergne later scoring on a passed ball to push the lead to 5-3.

Grace Wallis earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings. Camryn Bailey closed out the game, striking out four in 1.2 innings to record her first save of the season. Lavergne led the offense with two hits and two runs scored, while England drove in two runs.

In the nightcap, Mississippi College wasted no time. England doubled home Megan Matheis in the second inning, and the team broke the game open with a five-run third inning. Matheis and Sarah Lee each delivered RBI singles, and England capped the inning with a three-run homer to make it 6-0.

England finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and Lavergne added three hits. AK Willingham pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits and one walk, helping the Choctaws secure the victory.

The team will travel to face Trevecca Nazarene in a Gulf South Conference series starting Friday at 2 p.m. CT, with a single game Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
