Mississippi College Men’s Tennis Dominates Ouachita Baptist 6-1

CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College’s men’s tennis team posted a commanding 6-1 victory over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday at the MC Tennis Complex.

The Choctaws jumped out to an early lead by capturing the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Mattia Ricci and Sergio Ramirez Ocana defeated their opponents 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, while Mikayel Avanesyan and Florian Walcher won 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Mississippi College controlled the match from the start, winning five of six courts. Simon Pfau led the way at No. 2 singles, earning a 6-4, 6-0 victory. Walcher added a 7-6, 6-1 win at No. 3, and Sergio Ramirez Ocana secured a three-set win at No. 4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1. Mikayel Avanesyan also contributed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5.

The match’s only loss for Mississippi College came at No. 1 singles, where Ramon Strassmann defeated Ricci in three sets. Lucas Cavalcanti de Carvalho completed the sweep with a three-set win at No. 6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.

The win demonstrates Mississippi College’s depth and consistency as the season progresses, building momentum for future matches.
