Mississippi College Earns Four GSC Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mississippi College earned four Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field weekly awards, the league announced Wednesday. The honors recognized standout performances from the Choctaws at last weekend’s Samford Open.

On the men’s side, Evan Wrights was named GSC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 800 meters in a personal-best 1:52.23. His time is the second-fastest in the conference this season. Wrights also helped the team finish third in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:19.15.

Freshman Tristan Jusino-Lansing received Men’s Freshman of the Week honors for his efforts in hurdles and sprints. He finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.17 seconds in the finals, after qualifying at 8.22 seconds. Jusino-Lansing ranks second in the GSC in the event. He also posted a personal-best 51.35 seconds in the 400 meters.

On the women’s side, Lauren Wallace was named GSC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after earning a silver medal in the mile. Wallace clocked a 4:52.51, which qualifies as an NCAA Division II provisional mark and ranks third in the conference. She was the only non-Division I athlete to finish in the top eight of the event.

Completing the quartet of honorees, Mallory Dial was named Women’s Freshman of the Week for the second straight week. Dial won the high jump by clearing 1.70 meters (5 feet, 7 inches), defeating multiple Division I competitors. Her mark also earned an NCAA provisional qualification and currently leads all GSC athletes in the event.

The weekly awards cover performances from Jan. 12-18 and underscore Mississippi College’s strong start to the 2026 indoor season.
