Mississippi College defeats Jackson State tennis team at home
Jackson, Miss. — The Jackson State men’s tennis team fell to Mississippi College in their home opener Monday afternoon, despite winning the doubles point. The duo of Ching Chang Chiu and Chen Hung-Yu defeated their opponents 6-3, while Fabrizio Fallas and Gokalp Ayar won 7-5 to secure the point for the Tigers.
In singles play, Hung-Yu and Chiu competed in tough matches but ultimately lost. Hung-Yu fell 3-6, 7-6 (5), and Chiu lost 6-4, 7-5, according to the team.
The Tigers will continue their home stand with matches against North Alabama and Co-Lin on Friday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
Jackson State’s roster includes Gokalp Ayar, a senior standing 5-foot-6; Ching Chang Chiu, a junior at 6-foot; Fabrizio Fallas, a sophomore at 6-foot; and Chen Hung-Yu, a freshman who is 6-foot-1, according to team information.
