Mississippi College Baseball routs Ouachita Baptist 12-1 in seven innings

Mississippi College baseball ended a losing streak with a 12-1 win over Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday in Clinton, Mississippi. The Choctaws improved to 14-10 with the victory, which was shortened to seven innings.

MC’s offense was prolific, totaling 13 hits, including two home runs. Cade Gadman led the team with four hits and four runs scored, his second four-hit game of the season. JT Thigpen added three hits, two doubles, and three RBIs, while Alex Johnson drove in three runs and had two hits. Will Langston and Nick Slonaker each homered, with Langston’s shot accounting for two RBIs.

Starting pitcher Blake Gollott earned his first win of the season, pitching six innings and allowing only one earned run on three hits. He struck out two batters. Connor Pittman threw one inning in relief, striking out one and allowing only one hit. The Choctaws used a strong middle-inning surge to pull away, breaking the game open in the fifth inning.

In that inning, Slonaker scored after reaching on an error, Gadman added an RBI single, and Langston hit a two-run home run to make it 8-0. Ouachita Baptist scored a run in the sixth before MC responded with a solo homer from Slonaker and a two-RBI single from Thigpen to cap the scoring.

Ouachita’s Kyndall Cassidy took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits in six innings. Jaren Ceasar led the Tigers with two hits. Mississippi College returns to action Friday, hosting Lee in the first game of a three-game series, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
