Mississippi College baseball hits four home runs in 6-1 win over Arkansas Tech
CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College baseball powered past Arkansas Tech with four home runs in a 6-1 victory Tuesday at Frierson Field. The Choctaws improved to 21-14 overall, marking their fourth consecutive game with at least six runs and 11 hits.
Creek Robertson led the offensive surge with a home run and double, extending his hitting streak to five games and driving in three runs. Teammates JT Thigpen, Ty Murphy, and Jake LaRocca also homered, contributing to the team’s early dominance.
MC wasted little time taking control. Thigpen opened the scoring with a solo shot in the first inning. In the second, LaRocca homered before Robertson added a two-run homer, giving the team a 4-0 lead. Robertson added an RBI double in the fourth, and Murphy’s solo shot in the fifth capped the scoring.
Arkansas Tech’s only run came in the sixth on an RBI single from David Ossanna. The Wonder Boys managed just six hits off a steady Mississippi College pitching staff. Carter Wells (1-0) earned the win in relief, pitching three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Tyler Swann surrendered one run, while Brady Ray retired all three batters faced. Peyton Charles pitched two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and a pickoff.
The win marked Mississippi College’s first over Arkansas Tech in Clinton since 2022 and improved their home record at Frierson Field to 8-1 in March. The team will next face Christian Brothers in a three-game Gulf South Conference series starting Thursday in Memphis, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
