Millsaps Women’s Flag Football Set to Make History in 2026 Season

Millsaps College is set to debut its women’s flag football program on March 22, marking the first collegiate game in Mississippi. The game will be hosted at Harper Davis Field against Huntingdon College at 11:30 a.m., according to the college.

The team is composed of 13 student-athletes, including several who participate in other sports. Head coach Felicia Ellis and assistant coach Lauren Samford expect a strong start from a roster with athletes from basketball, soccer, track and field, and cheerleading.

Senior Elyse Warren and freshman Ky King are expected to be key pass catchers. Freshman Ana Cerniglia will split time at quarterback, and sophomore Suzanna Busbee, a standout on the women’s soccer team, will also be involved in play-calling. Several other soccer players, including Ella Smithweck, Jordyn Templeton, Keila Torres, and Abby Wiard, will also compete.

The program’s inaugural season includes five games across three dates, with matchups against Wallace State Community College, Centenary, Hendrix College, and Southeastern Christian College. Millsaps announced plans to join the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2027, with women’s flag football becoming its 19th varsity sport.
