Millsaps Women’s Basketball Aims for SAA Championship in 2026 Tournament
The Millsaps College women’s basketball team is set to compete in the 2026 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament, hosted at Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia. The tournament runs from Thursday through Saturday, with all games available via live video and stats, according to the SAA.
The tournament schedule features eight teams competing inside the Cage Center. Opening games on Thursday include No. 4 Oglethorpe versus No. 5 Berry and No. 3 Millsaps against No. 6 Southwestern. The winners advance to the semifinals, with the championship game scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
Millsaps, seeded third, finished their regular season with a 6-1 conference record. The team is led by first-team All-SAA player Garin Freeman, who averages 16.9 points and 6.7 assists per game. Freeman’s teammates, Tia Anderson and Elyse Warren, also rank among the league’s best, with Anderson averaging 16 points and eight rebounds, and Warren contributing 15 points and 17 rebounds per game.
Top-seeded Trinity University earned its first SAA regular-season title, earning a bye into the semifinals. Trinity is led by Kylie Minter, who averages 16.3 points per game. Centre College, the defending tournament champion, is the No. 2 seed and also received a first-round bye. They are led by Lily Reid, averaging 15 points and five rebounds.
Oglethorpe finished the regular season strong with a 4-0 record, led by Keimarya Rivera, the SAA Athlete of the Year. Berry, hosting the tournament, finished with an 8-2 record. The Vikings are led by Elly Callahan and Briaiah Lewis. Southwestern, in their first SAA season, rounds out the field as the No. 6 seed, with three double-digit scorers including rookie Neely Castillo.
