Millsaps Track and Field Sets Six Program Records at SAA Indoor Championships
The Millsaps College men’s and women’s track and field teams set six school records at the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Indoor Championships in Danville, Kentucky. The meet took place Friday and Saturday inside Champions Hall, hosted by Centre College, according to the college.
Junior Greer Hernandez led the Majors with two program records and an All-SAA Honorable Mention in the 3,000 meters. Hernandez finished third in the event with a time of 8 minutes, 51.19 seconds, and also set a school record in the 5,000 meters, placing fourth in 15:23.86.
Freshman Benjamin Sylve and senior Eleanor Scott also contributed to the record-breaking efforts. Sylve established a new program standard in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.87, finishing 14th. Scott set a record in the triple jump with a distance of 10.68 meters (35 feet-0.5 inches), finishing seventh.
Other top performers included junior Fiona Selders, who improved her times in the 60-meter dash and became the second-fastest in program history in the 400 meters. She finished sixth in the 60 meters finals and ran 1:04.86 in the 400. Senior Eleanor Scott became the third-fastest in program history in the 200 meters, finishing 10th in 26.89 seconds.
The men’s team scored 11 points, while the women tallied five points in the team competition. Additional notable results included freshman Mason Castleberry, who ranked third all-time in the 5,000 meters, and sophomore Vivian Jordan, who ranked fifth in both the shot put and weight throw. Freshman Katie Brown tied her career-best in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters (4 feet-9 inches), placing 10th overall.
The Majors will open the outdoor season at the Mississippi College Spring Classic on March 7 in Clinton, Mississippi. A full list of results is available on the college’s athletics website.
