Millsaps Track and Field Sets School Records at UAB Green and Gold Invitational

The Millsaps College men’s and women’s track and field teams showcased impressive performances Friday at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational inside the Birmingham CrossPlex, according to school officials.

Freshman Frederick Fluker Jr. set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.01 seconds. He also finished 31st in the open 60 meters with a time of 7.78 seconds. Fellow freshman Dallas Stricker improved his personal best in the mile, crossing in 4:29.96 to place 11th. Stricker also ranked as the second-fastest in school history in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:33.22.

Junior Greer Hernandez posted strong performances in distance events, recording the second-fastest mile time in school history at 4:36.23 and the second-fastest 3K at 9:07.81. He finished 17th and 20th in those events, respectively. In the 800 meters, freshman Benjamin Sylve clocked 2:07.78, ranking as the third-fastest in school history and placing 26th.

Sprinters also excelled, with freshman Nick Price running the 60 meters in 7.22 seconds, the second-best time in school history, and the 200 meters in 23.68 seconds. Sophomore Aidan Brice posted a time of 7.44 seconds in the 60 meters, tying for the fourth-fastest in program history. On the women’s side, Fiona Selders broke the school record in the 60 meters with a time of 8.08 seconds and posted top-three school marks in the 200 meters (27.08 seconds) and 400 meters (1:05.26).

Senior Amari Jackson-Wright contributed in the field events, tying for fifth in school history in the weight throw with a mark of 8.73 meters, finishing 30th. The team will compete next at the Southern Athletic Association Indoor Championships in Danville, Kentucky, on Feb. 27-28.
