Millsaps Track and Field Sets Program Records at Rhodes Invitational
Memphis, Tenn. — Millsaps College track and field athletes achieved notable success at the Rhodes Invitational held at Wolfe Track and Field Complex. Junior Fiona Selders won the 100 meters in 12.40 seconds, making her the second-fastest in program history, and finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 25.56 seconds, the third-best in school history, according to the college.
On the men’s side, Greer Hernandez set a school record in the 500 meters with a time of 15 minutes, 34.89 seconds, placing eighth overall and as the second-fastest NCAA Division III runner in that event, sources said. Freshman Dallas Stricker finished 16th in the mile in 4:35.54, ranking second in program history, and also competed in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 16:30.43.
Other top performances included freshman Frederick Fluker Jr. finishing sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.14 seconds, third-best in program history. Sophomore Dillon Duley placed third in the shot put with a throw of 12.61 meters, and freshman Sean Wyers moved into fifth in program history with a discus throw of 39.27 meters, finishing seventh overall.
Additional highlights included Luke LeFors finishing seventh in the 400 meters in 52.77 seconds and eighth in the 200 meters in 23.15 seconds. Wyatt Wheeler placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 6.13 meters and finished ninth in the 200 meters in 24.06 seconds.
On the women’s side, Eleanor Scott led in the field events with a long jump of 10.87 meters, finishing ninth. She also cleared 1.37 meters in high jump, placing 11th. Amari Jackson-Wright finished ninth in the shot put with a mark of 10.43 meters, the fourth-best in program history. Freshman Katie Brown cleared 1.43 meters in high jump, finishing ninth overall.
Other female athletes posted strong performances, including Suzanna Busbee in the 100 and 200 meters, and Molly Northam in the javelin throw, where she finished 10th. The team will now prepare for the Southern Miss Invitational scheduled for April 3-4 in Hattiesburg, Miss., sources reported.
