Millsaps Men’s Basketball Tops Sewanee 83-77

The Millsaps men’s basketball team beat Sewanee 83-77 Sunday at the Hangar Dome in Jackson, Mississippi, according to the school. The Majors improved to 13-10 overall and 4-8 in the Southern Athletic Association.

Millsaps dominated in the paint, scoring 52 points inside. The team also capitalized on Sewanee turnovers, converting 22 points off 15 miscues by the Tigers.

Senior Caleb Kent led the Majors with a career-high 24 points, making 11 of 16 shots. Junior Jaxon Toney added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Cameron Lumar scored 15 points, including a 3-pointer, and junior Colt Donley went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line while recording two steals. Junior Davion James contributed 11 points, three assists, and two steals.

Millsaps opened the game with a 5-0 run, including a 3-pointer from Lumar. The team maintained pressure throughout the first half, leading 42-31 at halftime. Toney’s dunk at 15:37 kept the Majors ahead 10-6 early, and Kent scored multiple times in the paint to extend the lead.

In the second half, Millsaps pushed their advantage with a layup from Lumar and a 3-pointer from James. Despite Sewanee’s efforts to close the gap, the Majors maintained their lead. Key plays included a steal by Dakota Gasca and a dunk by Donley, helping secure the victory.
