Millsaps’ Hernandez First in School History to Earn SAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

MILLSAPS COLLEGE — Junior distance runner Greer Hernandez became the first athlete in Millsaps College history to be named the Southern Athletic Association Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for indoor track, according to the college.

Hernandez achieved the honor after competing at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational on Friday. He finished 17th in the mile with a time of 4:36.23 and 20th in the 3,000 meters in 9:07.81. Hernandez’s performances marked him as the second-fastest runner in program history in both events, college officials said.

The Majors are scheduled to compete next at the 2026 SAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Danville, Kentucky, on Feb. 27-28. Fans can follow the program on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook, or visit gomajors.com for updates.
