Millsaps Golf Teams Compete at Goliath Compression Invitational in Texas
FRANKSTON, Texas — The Millsaps College men’s and women’s golf teams competed at the Goliath Compression Invitational at Pine Dunes Resort & Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday. The event featured a challenging field, including teams from NCAA Division III and JUCO programs.
On the women’s side, sophomore Abigail Cerwick shot her lowest two-round score of the season, finishing 13th with rounds of 78 and 84 for a total of 162 (+18). She was nine strokes behind the leader and six behind second place on the demanding course, posting her lowest individual round of her collegiate career with a 6-over 78.
For the men’s team, senior Steven Noack led the way, finishing in 45th place with a total of 242 (+26) after rounds of 78, 82, and 82. Junior Jason Howe finished one stroke behind in 46th place with a total of 243 (+27). Sophomores Charlie Berglund and Miles Harrison tied for 47th with scores of 244 (+28). The men’s team finished eighth in the field.
The tournament was won by NCAA Division III No. 24 LeTourneau University, which finished with a score of 860 (-4). Millsaps’ men’s team posted a total of 973 (+109), while the women’s team will next compete at the Joe & Lee Duncan Invitational in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi, on April 13-14. The men’s team is scheduled to participate in the Bill Cochran Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee, on the same dates.
