Millsaps’ Elyse Warren Named USBWA Division III Player of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS — Millsaps College forward Elyse Warren has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division III National Player of the Week, becoming the first player in school history to earn the honor, according to the USBWA.
The senior center from Memphis, Tennessee, averaged 19.5 points and 24.5 rebounds last week. She posted two double-doubles, including 15 points and 16 rebounds in an 81-69 victory over Ozarks and a school-record 33 rebounds in a 55-36 win at Rhodes.
Her 33 rebounds marked the highest at any NCAA level this season and the most in Division III since 2018. Warren also scored 24 points in the game, tying her career high, and added an assist and two steals. Overall, she shot 54.8% from the field for the week.
Warren has previously been recognized as the Southern Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week three times this season and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Monday. The USBWA has awarded weekly honors to Division III players since 2014, marking its 11th season of recognizing top performers. Founded in 1956, the organization has about 900 members worldwide and is known for its All-America team selections and influential role in college basketball.
