Millsaps Baseball Forecasted to Finish Fifth in SAA Preseason Poll
The Millsaps College baseball team was ranked fifth in the 2026 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Preseason Poll, announced Wednesday. The Majors received 34 points in the voting, coming off a 2025 season in which they won the SAA regular-season championship.
Trinity led the poll with 56 points and seven first-place votes, while Centre tallied 50 points and the remaining first-place vote. Rhodes and Berry followed in third and fourth places, respectively, with Millsaps rounding out the top five.
Last season, Millsaps was projected to finish sixth but exceeded expectations to secure the conference title. This year, the team aims to replicate that success despite losing 14 key contributors, including the reigning SAA Player of the Year, Bradley Pelle, and the SAA Pitcher of the Year, Nick Tarantino, along with six other all-conference players, according to coach Robert Page.
Page is entering his 38th season as the Majors’ head coach. The team returns 31 players from last year and has added 22 newcomers to bolster the roster. The new additions will face challenges, especially with the rise of Southwestern and Trinity, the latter of which recently advanced to the College World Series.
Despite being underestimated in the poll, Millsaps is determined to contend for back-to-back SAA titles this season.
