MC Women’s Basketball Overcomes Christian Brothers for Road Win
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State women’s basketball snapped a two-game losing streak with a 76-68 victory at Christian Brothers University on Saturday. The win improves MC’s record to 9-13 overall and 8-9 in Gulf South Conference play.
Christian Brothers, which has yet to win a conference game this season, falls to 3-19 overall. Four MC players scored in double figures, led by Karly Ivy with 19 points. The Denton, Texas, native also recorded three steals and three rebounds.
Vivian Sketoe added 14 points and six assists, along with three steals. Nia Coleman contributed 12 points and five rebounds, while Keller Bigham scored 11 points, including three three-pointers and one steal.
The game was closely contested early, with Christian Brothers holding a 15-14 lead after one quarter despite MC’s efforts to control the paint and force turnovers. The Lady Bucs extended their lead in the second quarter with efficient shooting, including two three-pointers, and took a 35-26 advantage into halftime.
MC surged after the break, dominating the third quarter 21-10 behind strong defense, timely three-point shooting, and perfect free-throw shooting. The Choctaws took a 47-42 lead into the final quarter and maintained their momentum, shooting 73 percent from the field in the fourth and hitting three more three-pointers. Late free throws sealed the victory.
Donee’ Frazier led Christian Brothers with 22 points, making 8 of 12 shots and 6 of 8 free throws, while grabbing eight rebounds. Alice Conrad scored 18 points, including four three-pointers, and added two steals.
MC returns to action Thursday, Feb. 12, hosting West Florida in one of the remaining home games of the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
