Little Rock BMCU Women’s Tennis Responds with Dominant Win After Loss
The BMCU women’s tennis team faced a challenging day on the courts, opening with a match against Texas A&M–Texarkana and concluding with a decisive win over John Brown University.
In the first match, the Toppers were defeated 7–0 by TAMU Texarkana. Doubles play saw Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos lose 6–2 at No. 1, while Lina Cetina and Lucia Rodriguez Garcia fell 6–3 at No. 2. The closest doubles match was at No. 3, where Kiersten Terris and Valeria Manquillo lost in a tiebreaker, 7–4.
Singles were highly competitive, with Mordiz falling 6–4, 6–0; Cetina dropping a 6–4, 6–2 decision; Ramos losing 7–5, 6–1; Malyaporn defeated 6–2, 6–3; and Garcia ending with a 6–3, 6–0 result. Despite the loss, the match provided valuable experience against a strong opponent and motivated a strong response later in the day.
In their second match, the Toppers responded with a 7–0 sweep over John Brown University. Doubles wins included Mordiz and Ramos at 6–2, Cetina and Garcia at 6–4, and Malyaporn and Terris at 6–3. The team carried that momentum into singles, with Mordiz winning 6–2, 6–1; Cetina earning a 6–3, 6–2 victory; Ramos dominating 6–0, 6–2; Malyaporn securing a 6–3, 6–4 win; Garcia adding a 6–1, 6–2 victory; and Terris closing with a 6–2, 7–6 win in a tiebreaker.
The results highlighted the growth and resilience of the team, as BMCU responded to adversity with a complete and confident performance in their second match.
