Cleveland, Tenn. — Mississippi College women’s basketball lost to Lee University 71-38 Saturday. The Choctaws moved to 9-17 overall and 8-13 in Gulf South Conference play. Lee improved to 17-8 and 13-7 in the conference.
Mariam Olawoyin led MC with 11 points and added four steals. Karly Ivy scored six points and made all four free throws she attempted. The Choctaws struggled offensively early, hitting only one of their first 10 shots in the first quarter as Lee built an 18-4 lead.
Lee capitalized on turnovers early, but Mississippi College found some rhythm at the free-throw line in the second quarter, converting seven of nine attempts. Despite the effort, Lee maintained a 38-19 advantage at halftime, thanks to strong rebounding and bench production.
In the second half, the Choctaws forced 13 turnovers over the final two quarters but continued to struggle with field goal accuracy. Lee used efficient shooting and rebounding dominance to extend its lead and secure the win. Bailey Burgess led Lee with 12 points, including four three-pointers, while Libby Privett also scored 12. Hannah Jones contributed 10 points and four steals. Baylee Delbridge led Lee on the boards with 12 rebounds, nine defensive.
