Langford scores 31 as MUW women’s basketball beats Eureka 88-61
Eureka, Ill. — Conley Langford scored a season-high 31 points to lead Mississippi University for Women’s women’s basketball team to an 88-61 victory over Eureka College in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletics Conference on Saturday.
Langford, a fifth-year senior, recorded her fifth double-double of the season and her 21st of her career, pulling down 15 rebounds. She scored 23 of her points in the first half and finished 12-for-22 from the field, including 5-for-12 from three-point range. The Owls improved to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the win.
Fellow senior Calysia Phillips contributed with 11 points, hitting 5-of-12 from the field and 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. She also dished out four assists and made two steals. Mia Bowen and Jessica Hughes added 11 points each for the Owls. Bowen also had six blocks, tying her season total at 48, which is tied for the NCAA Division III lead.
Freshman Fantasia Wilson set a school record for assists in a game with 12, surpassing the previous mark of 11 set by Phillips earlier this season. Wilson also led the game with six steals and added five rebounds. The Owls forced 15 Eureka turnovers, converting them into 31 points.
Mississippi University for Women will try to extend its winning streak Saturday at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
