Kennesaw State won all six singles matches and secured the doubles point to defeat Alcorn State 7-0 in a women’s tennis non-conference match Friday at the Halls Ferry Tennis Courts in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

The Owls (3-3) claimed the doubles point by winning the first two courts before the third match was left unfinished. Ema Baraniakova and Sofia Madrid defeated Alcorn freshmen Amelia Tatafu and Hana Bajramovic 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Laura Nadaska and Izabelle Persson beat the Braves’ Natalija Nikolic and Katherine Grados 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, Kennesaw State dominated all six courts. Rianna Coreisa defeated Alcorn freshman Taylor Briffa 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Laura Nadaska won at No. 4 over Natalija Nikolic, 6-1, 6-0. Sofia Madrid, Maria Ivankovic, Persson, and Terezia Baraniakova all earned straight-set victories to complete the shutout.

Alcorn’s Zoe Crimmel won five games across two sets against Persson, while Tatafu, playing at No. 2 singles, won four games. Coach Kersten Vanem-Walker praised her team’s fight and positivity, noting the progress as the team prepares for upcoming matches in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Braves are scheduled to face Bethune-Cookman on March 6 and Florida A&M on March 7 in the first SWAC Pod event of the spring season. Vanem-Walker emphasized continuing development ahead of those matches.
