Jones College Finishes Fifth at Alabama Golf Tournament

Decatur, Alabama — Jones College finished fifth at the Calhoun Spring Classic on Tuesday at Burningtree Country Club. The Bobcats shot a combined score of 896 over 54 holes, with rounds of 304, 294, and 298.

Host Calhoun Community College and Shelton State tied for first place with team scores of 875. Wallace State was third at 885, and Snead State took fourth at 891. Northwest was the only other team from the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference to compete, finishing ninth with a score of 911.

Individually, freshman Julius Hautmann of Germany led Jones with a 217, 1-over-par total of 71-72-74, tying for sixth place. Bastian Graf, also from Germany, shot 77-72-74 for a total of 223. Sophomore Josh Tombs of England posted a 224 with rounds of 80-71-73. Freshman Matthew Eubank from Petal finished with a 243 (86-80-77), and sophomore Drew Groscost of Lewisburg shot 232 (76-79-77).

The tournament medalist was Trenton Ables of Wallace State, who carded a 212 (68-76-68), 4-under-par. Reid Larson of Shelton State finished second with a 214 (72-73-69).

This was the final regular-season tournament for Jones. The Bobcats will compete in the MACCC Championship April 13-14 at The Club at Ole Brook in Brookhaven.
