Jones Baseball Sweeps Baton Rouge with Strong Pitching and Power Hitting

ELLISVILLE — Jones State baseball finished a four-game sweep of Baton Rouge Community College on Sunday at The Bank. The Bobcats won both games of the doubleheader, with strong pitching and clutch hitting leading the way.

In the opener, Brayson Graham went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and pitched five innings of one-hit ball. Trevor Hodges pitched 4.1 innings, allowing one earned run, to earn the win. Graham’s offensive production included a two-out, two-run single that put Jones ahead 3-0 after three innings. Baton Rouge scored twice on bases-loaded walks in the fourth and fifth innings, but Graham’s four RBIs helped secure a 7-2 victory.

Cooper Rayburn came on in relief in the fifth inning with the tying run at the plate and allowed just two hits over 2.2 innings to earn his first collegiate save. Sam Oakley’s RBI single in the second inning and Graham’s late-inning hits fueled the Bobcats’ offense.

In the nightcap, Jones jumped to an early lead with a four-run first inning, highlighted by Brayden Quick’s first of two home runs. Graham pitched five innings, allowing only one hit in the fifth and striking out five. The Bobcats added to their lead in the third and fourth innings, with Quick hitting his second two-run homer and Dylan Champagne driving in two runs with a double.

Warren Hutchinson stole home on a delayed steal in the first inning, and Sanders Ainsworth hit his third home run of the year in the sixth. Quick finished 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs, while multiple Bobcats recorded hits in the game.

Jones will host Nunez Community College in a single game on Wednesday, with tickets available at jcbobcats.com/tickets. The game will also be streamed live at jcbobcats.com/watch.
