Jackson State women’s tennis earns first SWAC victory of season
Montgomery, Alabama — Jackson State women’s tennis earned its first SWAC victory of the season Saturday morning, defeating Southern 4-0. The Tigers also recorded their second consecutive win overall.
Tiara Alvarez and Daniela Tovar opened the match with a 6-1 victory in doubles. Victoria Linkovski and Helen Hernandez secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at number one doubles.
In singles play, senior Isabella Benavides maintained the momentum with a 6-1, 6-0 win at number four. Linkovski followed with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at number three. Mariia Iordanova completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 win at number five.
The Lady Tigers will face Alabama State on Sunday at 10 a.m., as they continue their season.
