Jackson State Women’s Basketball Falls to Bethune-Cookman 58-50

Jackson State’s women’s basketball team fell to Bethune-Cookman 58-50 Thursday evening at home. The Tigers received 28 points from their bench but couldn’t overcome the Wildcats’ lead.

Jada Patton led Jackson State with 13 points, four steals and two blocks. Jaileyah Cotton added 11 points and three steals, while Angel Wilkinson scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Tigers forced 17 Bethune-Cookman turnovers, converting them into 19 points. Patton’s four steals were the most by any player in the game. Jackson State struggled early, trailing 18-8 after the first quarter and 29-17 at halftime.

Jackson State narrowed the gap to 29-25 early in the third quarter and stayed within striking distance until the Wildcats extended their lead in the fourth. The Tigers made a late push, cutting the deficit to 52-50 with 1:33 remaining, but Bethune-Cookman responded with a scoring run to seal the win.

Jackson State shot 34% from the field and 59.1% from the free-throw line. The Wildcats shot 38.8% overall and 93.3% from the free-throw line, with Tyler Butler grabbing 16 rebounds and Daimoni Dorsey scoring 15 points. The Tigers will host Florida A&M on Saturday at noon, broadcasting on HBCU Go TV.
