Jackson State men’s tennis falls to LSU in season opener

BATON ROUGE, La. — Jackson State men’s tennis lost to LSU in their season opener Sunday afternoon. The Tigers faced a tough challenge against the Tigers from LSU at the LSU Tennis Complex.

Junior Ching Chang Chiu had the most notable performance for Jackson State in singles, winning two games in each set against LSU’s Matios Ponce De Leon before losing 6-2, 6-2. Senior Federico Pickenstainer and Jhoan Vaquero also scored two points in their respective singles matches.

Although Jackson State lost the doubles point, Pickenstainer and Vaquero teamed up to earn two points, as did Chiu and Hung-Yu Chen in their doubles matches. The team will next compete Friday against South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, at 1 p.m.
