Jackson State Men’s Tennis Drops Road Match to Alabama A&M
Huntsville, Ala. — Jackson State’s men’s tennis team lost to Alabama A&M on Saturday afternoon despite securing the doubles point. The Tigers’ only point came from wins by doubles pairs Ching Chang Chiu and Chen Hung-Yu, as well as Federico Pickenstainer and Jhoan Vaquero.
Chiu and Hung-Yu defeated Agustin Marquez and Arnav Pathange 6-2 in doubles play, giving Jackson State an early lead. Pickenstainer and Vaquero clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory at the third position.
In singles action, Vaquero and Hung-Yu each won their first sets 6-4. Senior Gokalp Ayar added five points in his opening set. However, Alabama A&M ultimately secured the win.
Jackson State now prepares to host Delta State on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in an effort to bounce back from the loss.
