Jackson State Men’s Tennis Beats Dillard 4-2 at Home
Jackson State’s men’s tennis team defeated Dillard 4-2 in a nonconference match Sunday afternoon. The Tigers earned the win on their home courts, improving their overall record to 6-10 and their SWAC record to 2-1.
Gokalp Ayar and Fabrizio Fallas opened the match with a 6-3 victory at number three doubles. Dillard responded with a win at number one singles, but Jhoan Vaquero and Federico Pickenstainer secured the doubles point for Jackson State with a 6-4 win at number two doubles.
Ayar completed a 2-0 day with a 7-6, 6-2 victory at number four singles. Vaquero rallied from a set down to win 6-3, 0-6, 6-2 at number one singles, preventing Dillard from mounting a comeback after wins at courts one and two. Fallas sealed the victory for Jackson State with a 7-5, 6-3 win at number six singles.
The Tigers will have nearly two weeks off before returning to action April 4 in Huntsville, Alabama, to face Alabama A&M.
