Jackson State Men’s Tennis Beats Austin Peay 4-1 at Home

Jackson State’s men’s tennis team defeated Austin Peay 4-1 in a home match Thursday afternoon, according to school officials.

The Tigers opened the match strong, winning the doubles point with victories at the second and third doubles spots. Federico Pickenstainer and Jhoan Vaquero teamed up for a 6-2 win at number two doubles, while Gokalp Ayar and Fabrizio Fallas followed with a 6-4 victory at number three doubles.

Vaquero continued his momentum into singles play, defeating Felipe De La Hormoz 6-1, 6-2. Ayar added another point with a 6-3, 6-1 win at number three singles. Freshman Chen Hung-Yu clinched the match for Jackson State with a 6-3, 6-3 victory, securing the team’s fourth win of the season.

The team will next host Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday, March 18, at 2 p.m., according to athletic department officials.
