Jackson State Looks to Repeat as SWAC Golf Championship Starts Monday

Jackson State will compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference golf tournament starting Monday at the RTJ Trail at Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham, Alabama. This marks the Tigers’ first appearance in the tournament since 2017, when they last competed for the conference title.

The tournament features three rounds beginning at 7:30 a.m. each day, with both men’s and women’s teams teeing off simultaneously. The event is held at the Oxmoor Valley course, which was renovated in 2021 and features scenic landscapes, challenging elevation changes, and a nod to the area’s mining history.

The Ridge course offers significant elevation changes and dense tree cover, while the Valley course includes new tees, bunkers, and redesigned holes, including the notable 18th hole. The courses are known for their natural beauty and difficulty, making for a competitive tournament.

Jackson State’s men’s team will start at 7:30 a.m., with Edward Wallace leading off. He will be followed by Kaden Tibbetts, Ekam Singh, Trace Carpenter, and JD Berndt at 10-minute intervals. The women’s team will also tee off at 7:30 a.m., with Alex Washington leading, followed by Josefina Serres-Scheffer, Jannel Calixterio, Isabella Christy, and Maddy Beeching.

The final round of the tournament will be streamed on SWAC TV. Jackson State fans can follow updates on social media at @GoJSUTigers and visit the official athletics website at GoJSUTigers.com for coverage.
