Jackson State Finishes Near Bottom at 2026 Gulf Coast Collegiate

Jackson, Miss. — Jackson State’s men’s golf team finished 15th at the 2026 Gulf Coast Collegiate held at English Turn Golf Club in New Orleans. The tournament took place Monday and Tuesday, with the Tigers posting a combined score of 1,027, 164 strokes over par.

JD Berndt led the Tigers, finishing with a three-round total of 245 (+29). He shot rounds of 84, 80, and 81. Trace Carpenter was second on the team, ending with a score of 250 (+34), after rounds of 84, 82, and 84.

Other Jackson State players included Ekam Singh, who finished with a 269 (+53); Edward Wallace, with a 273 (+57); and Kaden Tibbets, who posted a 281 (+65). The Tigers finished behind teams such as Augusta, Loyola-Chicago, and St. John’s, who claimed the top three spots.

Augusta’s team led the tournament with a total score of 898 (+34). Individual leaders were tied at 225 (+9), with players from Augusta, St. John’s, and one other competitor sharing the top spot.
