Jackson State Falls to Arkansas-Pine Bluff in SWAC Game

Jackson State fell to Arkansas-Pine Bluff 84-63 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game Monday night at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Dorian McMillian led the Tigers with 24 points, marking his second consecutive game with at least 20 points. He shot 42.9% from the floor, including four three-pointers. Jayme Mitchell Jr. added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Tamarion Hoover scored 12 off the bench.

Jackson State shot 36.5% from the field and 25.9% from three-point range, also making 66.7% of free throws. Arkansas-Pine Bluff shot 50.9% from the floor and 45.5% beyond the arc, and made 81% of free throws. Quion Williams led the Golden Lions with 25 points, as four players scored in double figures for UAPB.

The first half was tightly contested, with nine ties and five lead changes. Jackson State shot 39.4% from the field and 21.4% from three, making both free throws in the period. UAPB shot 53.3% from the floor and 44.4% from beyond the arc, going 71.4% at the free-throw line. Williams had 17 points in the first half, while McMillian scored 12 for Jackson State.

In the second half, Jackson State’s shooting declined to 33.3% from the floor and 30.8% from three, but they shot 66.7% at the line. UAPB finished the half shooting 48.1% from the floor and 45.5% from three, with an 85.7% free-throw percentage. The Golden Lions maintained their lead and secured the win.

Jackson State will host Florida A&M at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in their next game. The team continues to compete for positioning in the SWAC standings.
