Jackson State earns first win of season with victory over Co-Lin
Jackson State baseball recorded its first win of the season Friday, topping Co-Lin 6-1 in a non-conference game. The Tigers took the doubles point with wins by Gokalp Ayar and Fabrizio Fallas, and Federico Pickenstainer and Jhoan Vaquero, both winning 6-2.
Jackson State built on its early success with a strong showing in singles play. Chen Hung Yu secured the second point with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Ayar added a win at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 score. Pickenstainer blanked his opponent at No. 4, while Ching Chang Chiu won a three-set match, 6-4, 1-6, 13-11, to clinch the victory.
Earlier in the day, the Tigers faced North Alabama. All three doubles teams scored three points but lost the doubles point. Fallas led the singles effort with five points in the first set at No. 6, the most by the team in singles play.
