Houston Christian tops Alcorn 12-0 in series opener

Houston Christian opened its series against Alcorn with a dominant 12-0 victory Friday at Husky Field in Houston. The Huskies’ offense was led by Levi Castilleja, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, according to school officials.

Houston Christian scored six runs in the first inning after starter Devin Kriley was pulled early. Tyree Jackson delivered a three-run double to center, giving the Huskies a quick lead. Rhett Hendricks added a two-run double to right field during the inning.

Alcorn reliever Hunter Bell held the Huskies to two runs over 2.2 innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. Despite the efforts, the Braves could not slow Houston Christian’s offense, which added four more runs over the next few innings.

In the sixth inning, Castilleja doubled to shallow left, driving in Preston Curtis. Anthony Avalos later singled to left to score Castilleja and extend the lead to 12-0. Houston Christian starter Joshua Carvalho earned the win, allowing just one hit over six innings with seven strikeouts. Kriley took the loss after allowing six runs in one inning.
