Hinds Community College Men’s Basketball Tops Northeast 87-74

UTICA, Miss. — The Hinds Community College men’s basketball team delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Monday night, defeating Northeast Mississippi Community College 87-74 at J.D. Boyd Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs set the tone early, building a 40-27 halftime lead with efficient shooting and aggressive defense. Hinds shot nearly 60 percent from the field (34-of-57) and controlled the tempo throughout the game, never losing the lead.

Terrance Clark led the way with 20 points on 10-of-14 shooting. Colain Brown added 18 points, making eight free throws, while Austin Ratliff contributed 17 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Off the bench, Daveon Henry scored 11 points, and Tyric Francois added eight, including two three-pointers.

The Bulldogs’ balanced attack produced 48 points in the paint and 15 fast-break points. Defensively, Hinds limited Northeast to 31.8 percent shooting in the first half. Although the Tigers increased their accuracy after halftime, the Bulldogs responded to every run and maintained a comfortable margin late in the game.

The victory improves Hinds’ standing in the conference and provides momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action Thursday, February 19, against Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
