Hinds Cheer Makes History with Dual Finals Appearances at UCA Nationals
ORLANDO, Fla. — The Hinds Community College Raymond Cheer program made history at the 2026 UCA College Cheerleading National Championship, held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The team advanced to the finals in two divisions for the first time and finished in the top 10 in both categories, showcasing significant growth and competitive strength.
The Eagles finished fifth in the Open Small Coed Game Day division with an event score of 82.0167. Their routine featured sharp execution, energetic crowd engagement, and clean material, earning recognition among the top junior college programs nationally.
In the Open Small Coed Traditional division, Hinds secured eighth place with an event score of 64.1. Despite the high difficulty of their routine and the pressure of competition, the team advanced past the semifinals to compete in the finals on Sunday.
Hinds’ coach and athletes credited months of preparation and dedication for the historic achievement. The program expressed pride in setting a new standard and celebrating a record-setting appearance at the national event.
