Hinds Basketball Dominates Meridian to Secure Postseason Spot

UTICA, Miss. — Hinds Community College honored its sophomore players Monday night before dismantling Meridian Community College 101-61 in men’s basketball. The Bulldogs’ dominant performance capped their regular season with a decisive victory, earning a postseason berth.

Hinds set the tone early, scoring 58 points in the first half behind strong defense and efficient shooting. The team shot 59.3% from the field and 61.1% from three-point range, making 11 three-pointers in the game. The Bulldogs controlled the boards with 38 rebounds and forced turnovers that led to transition scoring opportunities.

Jayden Bowie led all scorers with 27 points, including seven three-pointers off the bench. Austin Ratliff added 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Terrance Clark contributed 16 points and six rebounds. Colin Brown dished out eight assists as Hinds finished with 24 team assists. Defensively, the Bulldogs recorded 18 steals and five blocks, disrupting Meridian’s offensive flow throughout the game.

The victory secures Hinds a spot in the Region 23 Tournament. The Bulldogs will face Holmes Community College on Thursday, March 5, in Goodman at 6:30 p.m. Hinds will look to continue its postseason run and improve its tournament seeding.
