Hinds Baseball Sweeps Baton Rouge in Dramatic Doubleheader

RAYMOND, Miss. — The Hinds Community College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Baton Rouge Community College on Wednesday at Joe G. Moss Field. The Eagles won game one 3–2 and game two 11–10, marking their best start since 2020, according to school officials.

In the opening game, Hinds fought a close battle, scoring three runs on six hits. The team relied on strong bullpen work to hold off a late BRCC rally and secure the victory. Ryder Molea led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Cade Fairley, AJ Seiter, and RJ Brown each drove in a run. Tyler West started for Hinds, pitching two innings and allowing two runs. Brady Griffin earned the win in relief, tossing five shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out two.

The second game saw Hinds trailing 10–2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning. The Eagles scored two runs in that inning and then erupted for a seven-run rally in the seventh to complete the comeback. With two outs and the game on the line, Kylan Landers delivered a towering three-run walk-off home run, sealing the 11–10 victory and igniting celebration among players and fans. Hinds finished with 11 runs on 10 hits, highlighted by a three-hit day from Cade Fairley, who also drove in three RBIs. RJ Brown added two hits and two RBIs, while Brody Breithaupt hit a two-run homer.

Rhett Murphy earned the win in relief, pitching a scoreless inning with a strikeout to close out the game.
