Jaxon Haynes hit two home runs, including a critical three-run shot in the eighth inning, as Mississippi Valley State University defeated the University of New Orleans 9-7 in a non-conference game.
Haynes’s solo homer in the seventh brought the Devils within one run, 7-6. His three-run blast in the eighth put Valley ahead for good, according to the school.
This victory marked Valley’s second non-conference win in its past three games. It was the first time the team has secured multiple wins against schools outside the Southwestern Athletic Conference since 2015, when it defeated Louisiana-Monroe and Illinois-Chicago.
