The Harding Bisons defeated the Delta State University men’s tennis team 4-1 Friday at the Cleveland Country Club.
Harding claimed the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, both by 6-2 scores. The No. 3 doubles match went unfinished. Delta State’s lone point came at No. 3 singles, where Juan Diego Alzate rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 win.
The Bisons secured the match with singles wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5. Valentin Greco forced a third set at No. 2 singles after taking the opening set but lost in the decider. Matches at No. 4 and No. 6 singles were unfinished.
The Statesmen will have a week off before traveling to Jackson on Tuesday, April 7, to face Jackson State University.
