Delta State Women’s Tennis Remains Undefeated with 7-0 Win Over Spring Hill
CLINTON, Miss. — The Delta State University women’s tennis team secured its fifth straight win Tuesday, sweeping Spring Hill College 7-0 at the MC Tennis Complex. The Lady Statesmen improved to 5-0 overall with a dominant performance.
Delta State claimed the doubles point by winning all three matches. Amelia Ciesielczyk and Trinity Ly won 6-3 at No. 1, Anastasiia Iakovlieva and Yasmina Mayer took a 7-6 victory at No. 2, and Lena Kuehn and Angie Moreno secured a 6-1 win at No. 3.
In singles, Ciesielczyk opened with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the top spot. Ly followed with a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Mayer, Iakovlieva and Kuehn each posted straight-set wins, clinching the team victory. Moreno completed the sweep with a three-set win, rallying from a 6-4, 5-7 deficit to win 1-0 in the third set.
Ciesielczyk, who was named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, continued her strong start to her collegiate career. The Lady Statesmen now prepare for Gulf South Conference play, starting Saturday against Lee University at 11 a.m. at the Cleveland Country Club.
