Delta State Women’s Tennis Cruises to 4-1 Win Over Harding
CLINTON, Miss. — The Delta State University women’s tennis team defeated Harding University 4-1 Friday afternoon at the Cleveland Country Club, according to school officials.
The Lady Statesmen secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Amelia Ciesielczyk and Yasmina Mayer combined to beat Harding’s No. 5-ranked doubles team, 6-3. Anastasiia Iakovlieva and Trinity Ly added a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Delta State clinched the match with singles wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. Trinity Ly won at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6. Yasmina Mayer secured her win at No. 3, 6-3, 6-3. Iakovlieva completed the sweep at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
Harding’s lone point came at No. 1 singles. Matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles were unfinished, officials said.
The Lady Statesmen will take a week off before traveling to Jackson to face Jackson State University on April 7.
