Delta State to Face Southern Arkansas in Midweek Baseball Game

Weronika Kaczmarska of Cleveland, Mississippi, reports that Delta State University’s baseball team will play an away game against Southern Arkansas University on Tuesday. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at Goodheart Field.

The game will be broadcast on the Statesmen Sports Radio Network, with Michael Gross providing commentary. The pre-game show begins at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Delta State (15-12, 10-8 Gulf South Conference) aims to gain momentum ahead of a key conference series against UAH. Tucker Jones has been a consistent offensive force, driving in 31 runs with five home runs and four doubles. He is also perfect in stolen base attempts, going 20-for-20.

On the mound, Mason Shropshire started last week against Arkansas Tech, tossing six shutout innings while allowing two hits and striking out one. He hopes to carry that performance into Tuesday’s game against Southern Arkansas.

Southern Arkansas (18-10, 13-5 Great American Conference) is led offensively by Wyatt Fielding, who has a .396 batting average with 10 doubles, two triples, and six home runs, driving in 26 runs. Preston Smith has also contributed significantly, batting .308 and stealing 15 bases. The Muleriders’ most recent midweek starter was Stetson Bishop, who has an 11.2-inning season with a 4.63 ERA.
