Delta State Rout Trevecca Nazarene 15-0 in Series Opener

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Delta State University’s baseball team defeated Trevecca Nazarene 15-0 in the opening game of their Gulf South Conference series Friday at Jackson Field.

The Statesmen (22-15, 15-10 GSC) scored early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Tucker Jones’ two-run home run to left field. They added another run in the third when Levi Lang hit a solo shot, extending the lead to 3-0.

Delta State continued to build its advantage, scoring a run in the fourth, then breaking the game open in the sixth inning. The Statesmen scored eight runs on five hits, aided by multiple Trevecca Nazarene errors, to push the lead to 12-0. Levi Lang highlighted the inning with a two-RBI double, and Drew Prosek added a two-run single.

The team finished strong with a three-run homer from Bo Rock in the seventh, ending the game via run rule. Delta State totaled 15 runs on 15 hits, with Jones, Lang, and Cooper Walls each recording multiple hits. Lang drove in three runs, while Jones and Rock each had three RBIs.

On the mound, Adrian Byrd pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits while striking out seven and walking none. Byrd improved to 5-1 on the season. Trevecca Nazarene managed five hits but was held scoreless, as Delta State’s defense turned two double plays and kept the Trojans off the scoreboard.

The teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader Saturday.
