Delta State Men’s Tennis Defeats Jackson State 4-2 on the Road
JACKSON, Miss. — The Delta State University men’s tennis team defeated Jackson State 4-2 Tuesday at the JSU Tennis Center.
The Statesmen (9-9) took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Alejandro Bravo and Simon Ojeda won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, while Juan Diego Alzate and Joaquin Jarochevsky secured a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Delta State clinched the match with three victories. Marti Cerda Castillo won at No. 1 singles after his opponent retired. Bravo added another point at No. 4 singles via retirement. Alzate completed a three-set rally at No. 3 singles, defeating Jhoan Vaquero 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.
Jackson State (6-12) earned wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles. The match at No. 5 singles remained unfinished.
The Statesmen will host the University of Montevallo on Friday at the Cleveland Country Club as they continue conference play.
