Delta State men’s tennis defeats Alcorn State 7-0
Delta State’s men’s tennis team defeated Alcorn State 7-0 Friday at Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Mississippi. The win marked the Braves’ 11th consecutive loss this season, according to the schools.
The Statesmen took the early lead by winning all three doubles matches. Alejandro Bravo and Simon Ojeda opened with a 6-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles, while Juan Diego Alzate and Joaquin Jarochevsky posted a 6-1 victory at No. 3. Marti Cerda Castillo and Valentin Greco completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 1.
Delta State carried the momentum into singles play, winning all six matches. Greco defeated Alcorn’s Vicent Llobell Buigues 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. Cerda Castillo beat Griffiths 6-1, 6-2 at the top spot. Bravo topped Fabian Juarez 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5. The remaining singles matches featured close first sets, with Alzate, Ojeda, and Jarochevsky each winning 7-5 before pulling away in the second set.
