Delta State Men’s Tennis Beats Spring Hill 6-1 to Improve to 4-1

CLINTON, Miss. — The Delta State University men’s tennis team posted a dominant performance Tuesday, defeating Spring Hill College 6-1 at the MC Tennis Complex.

The Statesmen secured the doubles point by winning all three matches. Marti Cerda Castillo and Valentino Millimaci won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, while Juan Diego Alzate and Alejandro Bravo matched that score at No. 2. Valentin Greco and Simon Ojeda completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Delta State claimed five of six matches. Alzate won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2. Valentin Greco, the reigning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, dominated 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3. Cerda Castillo defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4, and Bravo won 6-3, 6-1, at No. 5. Millimaci closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the sixth position.

Spring Hill’s lone point came from No. 1 singles. With the win, Delta State improves to 4-1 on the season and prepares for its next Gulf South Conference match Saturday against Lee University at the Cleveland Country Club.
