Delta State Men’s Golf Finishes Top-10 at Saint Leo Invitational

The Delta State University men’s golf team finished in ninth place at the Saint Leo Invitational on Tuesday at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club’s South Course. The team posted a three-round total of 862 (+10), competing against a 17-team field.

Senior Ty Werynski led the Statesmen with an impressive performance, finishing tied for fourth overall with a 207 (-9). He opened with a 69 (-3), followed with a 68 (-4) in the second round, and closed with a steady 70 (-2). Werynski’s performance marked his best finish of the spring season and was among the top individual scores in the tournament.

Freshman Hayden Webber contributed significantly, tying for 42nd with a total of 218 (+2). After opening with a 71 (-1), Webber rebounded from a difficult second round with a 70 (-2) in the final round. Senior Evans Haynie finished 94th with a total of 234 (+18), posting rounds of 81, 74, and 79.

Junior Niko Salmi and sophomore Peter Blazevic tied for 57th, both with scores of 220 (+4). Salmi posted rounds of 72, 74, and 74, while Blazevic recorded identical scores across the three rounds. The team opened with a 284 (-4) in the first round, followed by scores of 290 (+2) and 288 (E) in the final two rounds.

Florida Southern claimed the team title with an 839 (-25), followed by Saint Leo at 841 (-23) and Nova Southeastern with 843 (-21). Delta State will aim to build on Werynski’s strong finish and its top-10 showing as the team continues its spring schedule.
