Delta State Faces Henderson State in Non-Conference Baseball Game at Ferriss Field

The Delta State University baseball team will host Henderson State University in a non-conference game at Boo Ferriss Field on Wednesday at 5 p.m., according to the university. The game will be broadcast live on the Statesmen Sports Radio Network and FloCollege, with Michael Gross calling the action.

The Statesmen enter the game after sweeping a series against the University of Alabama in Huntsville this past weekend. The series sweep marked their first in Huntsville since 2022 and was their second consecutive series sweep against UAH, following a sweep at home last season. Delta State holds a 62-12 all-time record against Henderson State, with a 6-4 edge in the past 10 matchups.

In their most recent meeting at Ferriss Field, Henderson State won 12-5 earlier this season. Key players for Delta State include Austin Batts, who is riding a 10-game hitting streak and is batting .324 with 10 RBIs. Tucker Jones is batting .357 with six home runs, 12 extra-base hits, and a perfect 20-for-20 on stolen bases. Dawson Muenzenmay, the team’s closer, maintains a 1.69 ERA with a 4-1 record and three saves.

Henderson State’s top hitter, Tanner Ross, is batting .333 with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs. Nate Moore is hitting .313 and is perfect on stolen bases with 13-for-13 this season. Henderson State won the first game of the season series 10-2 at their home field.
